Welcome!

A friendly and elegant 18th century house in a lovely Gersois hilltop village. The house has 8 bedrooms, with plenty of space for eating, reading and playing. The pretty garden and the pool are designed for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors in private, but with all the convenience and fun of a French village on your doorstep.

In the warm weather the pool with its surrounding area and the garden are delightful, in the cooler months the house is warm and spacious. Though Miradoux has the amenities of an attractive French village (‘tous commerces’) within walking distance the house and its garden give a sense of privacy that suits both families with young children and older groups who want to enjoy the rich cultural history of SW France.

Our visitors generally feel there’s just the right combination of gentle sightseeing and culture combined with a bit of market shopping, cooking in the house’s well-equipped kitchen, swimming, sun-bathing and reading in the shade; and a meal or two out in elaborate or simple restuarants.  Altogether there’s a sense of being private, in a secure environment for small children and a relaxed one for older people, while not cut off from France and the language and life of a small village.  And in the cooler months the spacious house is cosy and friendly, while having a bit of style and not at all feeling like a ‘holiday let’.

One group who rented the house earlier in 2011 said this:

‘W e had such a wonderful week at Miradoux and thank
you for making it possible.  It was a perfect place to spend with
friends, adults and children alike.  I can see why you fell for the
house, lots of space but cosy as well, with all its original features.
We loved being in the village and the children enjoyed doing the
breakfast run and endless trips to the very well stocked Casino usually
to buy sweets.

Because the weather was not warm enough to lie by the pool, we played masses of tennis, every day both courts were full.   All the locals were incredibly friendly.  We introduced the girls to petanque, looked round Chateau de Gramont, walked, played masses of card games.
We celebrated 2 birthdays and 1 wedding anniversary while we there, so
we went out to the restaurant in Bardigues, which was particularly
good.  Lovely position, delicious food, exceptional service and we were
made, particularly the children, very welcome.

Madame who cleans for you was splendid, so friendly and helpful’.

Another larger party took house and gite together this August (2011) and commented:

‘We loved the house, it was so spacious and well equipped. Even with 17 of us we never felt on top of each other. My daughter and family loved having the gite to escape to. And the kids loved the pool, of course. Weather was kind and we usually managed to eat outside on the terrace.

It is not an area of France that we know but we liked the peace and quiet and  loved the countryside, the sunflowers and the small villages. And we appreciated having the small shops within walking distance when we ran out of milk or bread!

Many thanks once again for a wonderful family holiday in your lovely villa’.

In the following pages we’ve tried to set out in photographs and words the kind of things you might want to know if you’re contemplating a holiday in our part of France.  But do get in touch [ganthorpe@yahoo.co.uk  or 00 44 (0)1653 648261] if you have any questions and we’d be happy to try and fill in more detail.
